The National Language Service Corps is looking for service-minded individuals who speak Chinese Mandarin, Hausa, Hindi, Indonesian, Marshallese, Russian, Somali, Swahili, Thai, or Vietnamese.
The National Language Service Corps ( www.nlscorps.org ) is a new organization – a network of US Citizens who speak foreign languages and are willing to assist the US Government with their language skills in time of need. The National Language Service corps is part of the Department of Defense, but it serves all US government agencies that may have language needs. NLSC Charter Members will be US government employees when they are activated, but they return to their civilian lives and jobs after completing assignments. Charter Members may refuse assignments, and may also choose which agencies they would like to work with, or do not want to work with. We are in a pilot phase to show Congress and the Department of Defense that the National Language Service Corps will work, and we’re recruiting in ten languages now – Chinese, Hausa, Hindi, Indonesian, Marshallese, Russian, Somali, Swahili, Thai, and Vietnamese. If you're interested in becoming a member, please visit the site and apply. If you have any questions, please call 1-888-SAY-NLSC (729-6572), option 1. |
