All are people who seem to live/breathe this social networking phenomenon However... Anybody remember the cell phone. How about the home phone. In case you don't know what these are, they are wonders of the twentieth century. These marvelous devices can get you hired. They can also be responsible for you not getting hired. I needed to reach someone quickly last night with a job offer. This was a situation where the offer needed to be accepted quickly or it might be lost forever. ARGH!!! The candidate had just been on the phone with me moments before the offer came in. I called and his voicemail box was full. Morale to the story, if you are looking for a job, keep the voicemail box less than half full. I didn't give up. I updated my status message on LinkedIn to say: Collins is stumped... Does anyone know if there is an easy way to determine the carrier for a given telephone number? Anyway, if I knew the carrier, then I could send an IM from my email system. Guess it would have been easier from my phone, but I didn't think of that. I'm not totally up on all the tricks, contrary to popular belief. Within 5 minutes I received the answer to my question. My point here is that in your job search, don't give up. Social Networking can come to the rescue in numerous ways. So here were the responses received within 12 hours of posting
