I would encourage you to consider volunteering for any community service organization. There is Hands On Richmond (Molly MacBean), Meals on Wheels (Tonia Parker) and then, there is the Red Cross which I am pushing.

I've been volunteering in several areas at the Red Cross for the last four years. I picked the Red Cross because they make a tremendous impact for people in need during disasters of all sizes. I never realized just how rewarding this could be.

Sana Khalid is the Volunteer Coordinator. If you are interested in participating, she will set up a time to meet with you and discuss the Chapter’s programs and services. She will also show you around our Chapter so that you are more familiar with the organization. You will need to attend an orientation to get started with the Red Cross. This is actually a great opportunity as there are many many areas of need at the Red Cross and may opportunities to receive specialized training as well.
