43 Systems Operations Engineer needed for new Richmond location. These must be filled by JULY 5, 2009.
Systems Operations Engineers who have Midrange Operational Experience with AIX, Linux, Tandem, base 24, Unix, Sun Solaris. Duties include Server Support, MVS, Windows Systems Programming Systems Operations Engineers with Mainframe Console Operations Experience, HMC, IPL, Issue commands to MVS, IMS, JES. Duties include MVS Systems Programming, Storage Systems programming, VTAM Systems programming. If interested, email me at collinsd@lesr-it.com No Agencies please Typical Skills and experience: Engineer provides level three support for issues which are encountered in the mainframe, midrange or application environments. These issues can be passed from the Monitoring Team or called into the Command Center from the Service Desk or internal customers. The engineers are responsible for diagnosing, researching and resolving the issues. If the engineer is unable to resolve the issue, it is escalated to the appropriate support team for assistance. Engineer is also responsible for opening bridge calls for higher severity issues; they assist the Triage manager and the support teams in the diagnostic and recovery process. During the bridge calls, the Engineer acts as the scribe to document the activities which occur during the bridge. They are also responsible for contacting any additional support which is requested during the problem resolution phase of the call. Systems Operations also assists with changes which are performed in the environment. They open the bridge so that all the parties involved in the change can communicate their activities. They may be required to shut down or start up components of the architecture to enable the teams to perform their change, or to activate the change. They are required to open a Peregrine Service center ticket for every problem that they work during their shift. The documentation should include; the symptoms of the problem, who was engaged, what steps were taken to resolve the problem and if any follow up actions are required. They are also required to document all the ongoing activities and any major events which occurred during the shift, to inform the shift of the things which need to be followed up on, or things which may reoccur during the shift. Must be willing to work any of three 12.5 hour shifts. Each shift is on for three days and off for four days.
