VCU has a PT opportunity and has a project aimed at helping biological researchers without programming experience to analyze biological data creatively within a web-based graphical programming environment VCU needs a skilled programmer to help develop and maintain the existing user interface. The interface communicates with a server that houses the data and language. Requirements: Programming will consist of Javascript, CSS, and Ajax, within a browser (DOM) environment; experience with all of these is essential. Some familiarity with a Lisp-like language, such as Common Lisp (preferred), Scheme, or Clojure essential. Ability to work independently required with periodic consultations with others on the project. Work is part time (averaging perhaps 10 hours/week, but variable) on long term basis, and consists of supporting existing client side code, fixing bugs, and writing new capabilities into it. *The amount of work will be variable, so there will probably be times when more than 10 hrs/week is available, but there will also be times when there's less work. It depends on how the project progresses on other fronts. We estimated 10 hrs/week as an average. Successful candidate will work, sometimes closely, with the server side programmer to create new capabilities and debug. Programmer can work remotely if you can provide the computer for this work. The most competitive candidates will be at least familiar with LISP (Scheme or Clojure); access to Lisp will probably not be necessary but we'll provide it if it is. Consultant will be asked to provide updates on work performed periodically to mgr via scheduled conference calls. If interested, send your resume to me at collinsd@lesr-it.com |
